Tommy is a 46 year resident of Arkansas. He and his wife Judy have been married for 41 years and reside in Heber Springs.
Tommy retired in 2004 after a 30-year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone (now AT&T). Due to increasing requests for help with telephone equipment from local business owners, he started Heber Springs Communications in 2006 and currently continues to provide quality service to his customers in north central Arkansas. Tommy also owned and operated a small cattle farm south of Heber Springs where they raised their 2 children.
"I have been involved in serving people in different ways most of my adult life. The office of Land Commissioner is an office that serves the people of Arkansas, so I feel my experience will be invaluable," stated Tommy.
After becoming involved in the Cleburne County Republican Committee, Tommy served as the County Campaign Chairman in 2012. In 2013, he was elected to a two-year term as County Chairman for the party. Since March 2015, he has held the office of First District Chairman for the Republican Party of Arkansas. The First District encompasses 29 counties in Arkansas, extending over approximately the eastern third of Arkansas from the Missouri border to the Louisiana border.
Tommy was awarded the "Best District Award" in 2016 by the Republican Party of Arkansas. During his term as First District Chairman, he helped establish 5 new committees in counties that had not had a committee in many years. He also had more countywide candidates file in the 1st Congressional District that any other district in the state. Tommy also encouraged and assisted counties with holding fundraisers when they had not done so previously.
Tommy's varied experience and love for our great state's tremendous natural resources make him uniquely suited for this office. Tommy said "I can think of no greater honor than serving the citizens of Arkansas and giving back to a place that has given my family so much! I look forward to traveling the state and hearing the concerns of our citizens."
